Broken links, missing images and spam links: found every night
2 min readBy the Verploy team
A link to a page that was removed, a logo that no longer loads after a migration, a product link from an old campaign: clients notice these before agencies do. Since version 2.40, Verploy looks for them every night, on every connected site, so you see them first.
How the check works
- Every night, Verploy checks up to 15 pages per site, starting from the homepage and the links on it.
- It follows up to 300 of the site’s own addresses and 100 external ones.
- The site page lists what no longer loads, on which page and since when, with the site’s own links and images first.
- Anything that works again disappears from the list by itself.
Spam links: a sign of a hack
Since version 2.44, the same check also recognises links to fake pharmacies, casinos and the like in the content of a site, and shows on which page they are. Hidden spam links are a common sign that a site has been compromised, and they rarely show up in the places you look every day.

Fewer false alarms
A link check is only useful if you can trust it. Shopping-cart and filter links are no longer counted, and neither are pages that a firewall briefly slows down. The monthly client report includes the list of broken links, so clients can see what was found and fixed.
