A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a backup. That is why Verploy does not stop at making backups.

Every night, without hosting logins

Verploy makes a backup of every site every night, through the small Verploy Connector plugin. You do not need to give us hosting or FTP access. The backup is encrypted on the site itself, stored in the EU and kept for 30 days.

Restoring a site

When you restore a backup, Verploy prepares it next to the live site and switches over in one step. Then it checks the homepage, the login page and the admin. If that check fails, Verploy automatically goes back to how the site was before the restore. Your settings file and the connection with Verploy stay in place.

Before it starts, Verploy checks that the site has enough free disk space for the restore. If there is not enough room, it does not start; if writing fails halfway, it stops and cleans up.

The restore test

The restore test is the part we are most proud of. Verploy restores a backup next to the live site, counts the files and database rows, and then cleans up. The live website is not touched and nothing goes live. You see proof that the backup comes back, without the risk of trying it for real.

Before every update, too

Apart from the nightly backup, Verploy takes a backup of files and database right before an update goes live. That is what the automatic rollback uses if something goes wrong after going live.

What comes next

Backup downloads from the dashboard and retention longer than 30 days are on our roadmap.
